![]() ![]() ![]() Disconnect the USB cable and disable CAT control and it all goes away. After some more trouble shooting discovered with CAT control enabled using the USB cable, there is lots of noise and distortion on the incoming audio drowning out the FT8 signals. I instantly had the full spectrum of signals shown and decoded and clean signal audio on the laptop. I then disconnected the USB cable for CAT control and boom. SO I put the USB soundcard back in play, played with audio volumes, made no difference. I bypassed the USB sound card and went straight to the laptop soundcard and heard the same noise. That is why I was only showing 1 or 2 signals on the wsjt-x waterfall and only decoded the 1 or 2 strongest signals, the audio input to the radio was full of noise. It had a massive amount of noise and distortion on it. Holy shit it was full of popps and hiss and noise and clicking. I started by turning on the option to send the USB mic input ( radio audio output ) to laptop speakers to listen to the incoming audio. It was the audio in that was showing the 1 or 2 stronger signals and not the 18+ signals my desktop and IC-7300 were seeing and decoding using the same antenna. The audio out works great and at 50 watts was being decoded in Australia and New Zealand last night. So I chose to go a USB cat control and the ACC connection on the radio for audio in and audio out. So then I started a process of elimination.įirst I will say, since I wanted ACLog to work with this and FT8 and WSJT-x all automatically like it does with my desktop in my shack. I am using the CT39A cable wired to two stereo 3.5mm jacks plugged into either a USB soundcard or directly into the analog mic and speaker out connections on the laptop. ![]() We both thought the only variable left was the cable and since I made it myself and wired it wrong the first two times, I took it apart again, rechecked all the connections and soldered it back together. Thank you to 444 for going over the settings with me on the phone. ![]()
